Younger Bro…

Stephen Curry, Dell Curry, and Seth Curry

Stephen Curry, Dell Curry, and Seth Curry

by Kesean Cooper

Seth Curry is the new point guard for the Sacramento Kings, with point guard Rajon Rondo and power forward DeMarcus Cousins as his teammates. Seth Curry is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry and the brother of Stephen Curry, who plays on Golden State Warriors.

Seth Curry once played on the Golden State Warriors with his brother, but unfortunately he wasn’t good enough yet so they sent him back to the D-league. Stephen Curry and the Warriors won the NBA Championship in 2015, and now it’s time for Seth to be just like his older brother. Some people wonder if Seth will come back strong during the 2015-16 season and show who is the better Curry brother.

Seth Curry was born on August 23, 1990 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended University Duke before going to the D-league and playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors. Seth has been in the NBA several times; he has been on the Memphis Grizzles, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Phoenix Suns. After he had been on all these teams, he was not good enough to play pro so they sent him back to the D-league. When he returned to the Santa Cruz Warriors, he along with his wingman Mychel Thompson (who is the brother of Steph Curry’s Splash Brother, Klay Thompson) won a D-League championship. Seth’s father Dell Curry played for many different NBA teams, and supported Seth & Steph while he was in the D-league. During college and his D-league career he averaged 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.

As I watched highlights of Seth Curry in the 2015-16 summer league with the New Orleans Pelicans, I noticed that he has a good reverse layup and floater. He can beat players off the dribble and go in for the score. Seth also has a good pull-up jumper, he is able to break down the defender and knock down the jumper. While I was watching his Duke highlights from 2012-13, he shot way more from downtown then he did in the summer league. If Seth Curry shows this talent in the NBA with the Kings, he could bring them far in the playoffs–maybe even an NBA title.

What I’m Thankful For

familyBy: Miles Graham

I’m thankful for my family and friends and everything I have. I’m thankful that I’m as fortunate as I am, to have a house, hardworking parents, a little brother and the life I have. I’m thankful that I have a roof over my head and clothes, and I don’t have to worry about my house or where I will sleep the next night. I hope that the people who can’t be thankful for what I have can one day have something to be thankful for. I also hope for people who are thankful to stay that way.

9/11: a tragic event

by Jeremy Martinez

Tragic.

Tragic.

September 11, 2001, also known as 9/11. It was a tragic day.

Many people were shocked by this event, where 2,996 people died, including 19 hijackers, 246 on the planes, and 2,606 in the World Trade Center, and 125 at the Pentagon.

The attack began when two large passenger planes hit the World Trade Center towers. The first plane hit the North Tower at 8:46 a.m and the second plane hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. At first, people thought that only two planes attacked the towers, but there were more than two planes–there were four.  One headed for the Pentagon, two headed for the Twin Towers, and the last one was headed for the White House but it was taken down in Pennsylvania by the civilians on the plane. The plane that hit the Pentagon struck at 9:37 am.

When the first plane hit, there was a big hole in the tower. Parts of the plane fell into the street and many people from other buildings and places in the city were looking at people jumping out of the building. Many were crying at the situation. When the second plane hit, people did not believe what they just saw. People in both buildings started to jump out, because they really knew that they where not going to make it and they did not want to burn to death slowly. Later, the towers started to fall and people still couldn’t believe it. The South Tower collapsed at 9:59 and at 10:28 the North Tower fell.

That day was one of the most tragic days of our American history. We still remember it today, and they even have a memorial for the people that died.

PC Building

By Jariel Perez

Many people have trouble deciding what processors or motherboards they should use when building a personal computer (PC). It really doesn’t matter, as long as you feel comfortable with what you think might be good. Now I’m not saying go out and buy everything. It really depends on your budget how much you are willing to spend.lenovo-tower-desktop-thinkcentre-edge-72-monitor-front-1_1

Now, if you are low on money or have 100 dollars or so to spend, your computer won’t be able to handle tough gaming but it will be able to play non-FPS (frames per second) destroying games. First, start off with looking for a good desktop tower case. Look for one with good ventilation that has enough space for a medium-sized motherboard. You can find one on Amazon for cheap. Next up, the motherboard. The motherboard plays a crucial part in PC building. Now, finding a good motherboard is going to be a little costly. But there are good motherboards for around 40-60 dollars. Your motherboard must have some requirements if you want a decent PC. It should have at least 4 Gigabytes of RAM (random access memory) space. RAM is the space you have for your graphics card, and it’s mostly used when playing games. It should also have space for at least a 700 watt power supply, so it can power all components, modules, and the graphics card. Now, moving on to the graphics card. I’d recommend getting an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8 GHz Dual‑Core Processor, because it gets the job done for a good price (like 50-100 dollars). You’ll need a Hard Disk Drive as well, but those are a little more pricey (like 50-200 dollars). Now we are pretty much done with the desktop tower. Time to move on to the monitor.

To find a monitor for cheap is not too hard. On Ebay or Craigslist, there will usually be monitors for really low prices. I’d recommend the Hp – 20″ Led Hd Monitor – Silver/black, just because of the fact that it’s 100 dollars and it has features like HD (high definition) display, high resolution display, LED lights et cetera. There are many more monitors like this specific one, and some are even cheaper, but this is the only one I could find that was good.

This concludes how to build a PC or PC setup. It really all depends on your budget and how comfortable you feel with a certain component you want to purchase.

Top Five Comic Book Villains

by Miles Graham

Doomsday: he can kill Superman!

Doomsday: he can kill Superman!

A great hero is nothing without a great villain, I am going to list the ones I think are the five best ones in comics today. I might miss a few great ones, because this is only the top five.

5: Green Goblin

Why Green Goblin? Well, because he is a psychopath and he was responsible for the death of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker‘s former girlfriend (also known as Spidergwen in an alternate universe). Another reason I picked Green Goblin is because he reminds me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

4: Dr.Doom

Dr.Doom is easily one of the best comic book villains ever, mostly because he has so many things and powers at his disposal. He has a small country, which is awesome. He is literally attached to a suit of armor, which is a nuclear powered titanium battle suit. Although he doesn’t look like much, you don’t want to mess with Dr.Doom.

3: Galactus

the joker

Galactus is the eater of worlds, so you know just by that nickname he is powerful. Do I need to say any more? No, I don’t, but I will anyway. He is the last of his kind, and has the Power Cosmic. He is also by far one of the most powerful people in Marvel, or even in comics overall. Anyway, he is awesome.

2: The Joker

I bet you all knew The Joker would be on this list, but not at number two! The Joker is responsible for the murder of maybe thousands of people, which means he’s dangerous. Also, he is smart and crazy, and will do literally anything to make his point. That’s a deadly combination of things, and when I say he’ll do anything to make his point I mean anything. He cut off his own face, enough said.

1:Doomsday

I bet you are thinking, ‘now why Doomsday and who is Doomsday?’ He isn’t one of the really popular villains, but he is one of my personal favorites. Why? Well, its because he killed Superman…how powerful are you if you can kill Superman? He also has a very unique and interesting ability: when he gets killed, he comes back to life. Even better, when he comes back he is immune to the thing that killed him. So he is virtually unstoppable.

Student Government Report: Week 11-16-15

By Miles Graham and Caleb Myke

We didn’t get much information this week, because the meeting had to end early because (Student Government President) Kobe Evans had to meet with his mentor. The agenda for this week’s meeting was supposed to include Unfinished Business, which includes the MS Senator’s sharing quote and updated SGA (Student Government Association) Constitutions. It was also supposed to include New Business, which includes bylaws and the SGA 2015-16 Agenda. They didn’t get to those things, but here’s what they did get to.

Next year, we are rescheduling the Thanksgiving feast to November 22nd instead of the 23rd, because this year the Women’s Academy can’t come. They also changed the order who does of the quote of the day on which day. In other news, the Senior Committee will be having a meeting this Thursday, November 19th 2015. The student government wants students to participate in their program for choosing candidates for Senate. As we said, they didn’t get through the entire agenda but they will hopefully get through the entire thing next time.  They debate a lot, and we are told that’s a good thing.

Control your emotions

“When anger rises, think of the consequences”–ConfuciusAngry

by Latifur Rahman

This quote means that when you get very angry, it can control you. When it controls you, you won’t think about the consequences. For example, when you get angry you sometimes act like the Hulk and get into fights, or even commit crimes like murder. This can get you into a lot of trouble. If you’re in school, one consequence can be detention. If you’re out of school, consequences can be jail or juvie. This quote also can help you with life problems, and remind you how to control your emotions in general. This quote should make you think about what the consequences might be when someone gets you mad.

Minecraft Upgrades

by Aidyn Foster

Minecraft has new mods and upgrades coming up, and I think it is going to be fun to play them. One of the examples is Crazy Craft 4.0, and another one is update 2.0. If you’ve seen Crazy craft 3.o and you saw the mobs in the game, then you know that it’s crazy. In Crazy craft 4.0 they added even more powerful mobs and OP (overpowered) gear and you can play with your friends and have fun.

For the new update 13.5, they are going to add new mods like Bullet Craft. bullet craft adds in army weapons like guns and grenades etc. Also the Mo Creatures mod. In this mod they and fire creepers and exsplosive chickens. Also they added more blocks and weapons. Lastly, they are going to make it so that you can play multiplayer without internet only if you are in the same area as some that you’re playing with.

I am going to get these upgrades and new games because they sound like fun. Sometimes, if you have a Mojang account, you get free Vip rewards and free skins. This is especially fun when you’re with a friend, because you can give them new things and go around killing everyone as a team. I hope that I get to play with you.

Student Government Report: first impressions

By Miles Graham

I went to one of the Bronx Eagle Academy student government meetings, and it was very interesting. The were good things and questionable things.

Lets start with the questionable things. They seem to be having time management problems, and some people don’t come or are late to the meetings. Another problem I see is that they have trouble keeping track of the minutes. The minutes are notes that say what they did in each meeting, and without the minutes they don’t know what they did and that can affect them big time. They also need to do a better time of scheduling house meetings.

Now let’s talk about the good things. They cooperate really well as a group, and they help each other with not only problems in the school but personal problems too. They communicate well and support each other, and they also are great problem solvers. I can see they will work out their problems and help the school, and have a bright future.
